Lately, I’ve been spending a lot of time bustin’ my body in my basement. We moved into this new house in November, and it’s been wonderful. Then we started working on the basement. It’s still wonderful, but it’s now wonderful and also hard work.
Last night, it all kinda piled up on me. Work at home, work at work, and all. I found myself wanting to retreat and hide. So, while my kids were playing, and my wife was on the computer, I drifted into the front room and picked up my guitar and started playing. Pretty soon, I started feeling better.
Then, I looked up and one of my sons was playing on the floor next to me. Not too much later, I heard the other son calling to be brought in.
It wasn’t long before Jodi came in and sat down and listened to me singing and playing as she sorted out her purse.
Then Brendon brought in some pots to bang on so he could play along with my songs.
Before you knew it, we had a sort of impromptu family music night going on. How can you stay blue with that? It really was a lot of fun. It was also nice to see my family rally around me and help lift me back up.
Plus, I really like it when my kids sing my songs.
