There's been a lot of exciting things going down.First of all, was the big LDS Indie Music Fest. Three days of musical fun and performances. Wow. For a more detailed write up of what went down, go to the moboy blog.Then, I've been working up a storm on new tunes. I've almost got the rocker mix of Shine the Light done. Arhytmatik is going to produce the more hip hop version. I'll obviously post both mixes here, as they get done.I've also been working on Summer of 87. I was up until 2:00 last night working on it. I had pitch shifted all the instruments and the voice. So, I recut the bass, the guitars, and redid the scratch vocals so they don't sound so chipmunked. I'll be working on that one pretty hard on my Music Weekend coming up over Labor Day. The reverb was muddy, especially in the drums, and the doubling on the lead vocal was making it sound like it was sung in a tiny little box. So, I did some tweaking. I backed off the reverb a little bit, and also backed off the second vocal. I think it feels a lot cleaner and a lot more professional now. I re-uploaded it to the site, so everyone will be downloading the new version now.Honestly, most people probably won't notice the difference. But it feels a lot better to me. I cut the lead vocals for Too Late Smart. I still have to comp them up. I tried to add some higher harmonies, but they'll have to be recut when my voice isn't quite so tired. There's some cool things I can do with this tune!Also, the other day, I did some chopping up on Shine the Light. It's much tighter and much cleaner, now, with not so much dragging out. Those are done, now, and all that's really left at this point is to cut all the final vocal takes, comp it, and mix it.I've also been working on Shine the Light. There's a chance I'll get to perform that one with Arhythmatik at the youth night of the LDSM fest, coming up mid-august. I'm pretty stoked about that. But I have a lot to do on that one before it's done. Gonna be a lot of cutting, moving, and pasting to get that song's structure down.On the way in to work today, I was listening to all the songs I've currently got in progress. Some are pretty close, some have a long way to go. It was pretty exciting hearing them all again, since I haven't been listening to them much of late.
